R. Stickney, Retired Banker, Sportsman, Dies Wednesday
Montpelier -- Ross Stickney, 84, of 108 E. Washington St., retired bank officer and sportsman an ex-Williams county official, died at 5:30 a.m. today in the Hillside Nursing Home, Route 2, Bryan.
A longtime director and vice president of the National Bank of Montpelier, he had served as Williams County recorder about the 1920's. He attended Tri-State College, at Angola, Ind., and taught grade school for several years in Northwest Township.
Mr. Stickney was a native of Northwest Township and was widely known as a sports enthusiast. He played semi-pro baseball and was a fisherman.
He was a member of the Montpelier I.O.O.F. lodge.
His wife, Clara Ann, died in 1956.
Surviving are two sons, Leland, of Montpelier, and Carsen, of Bryan; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Stickney, Toledo, and Mrs. Margaret Ann Greene, route 4, Bryan; four grandchildren; a brother, Cecil, of Eugene, Oregon; and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Kohl, route 1 Montpelier.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Wilson-Goosey Funeral Home with the Rev. E.E. Roberts of Fayette, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 o'clock noon Thursday.
