Ben Anderson was born in Oslo, Norway. He came to the United States as a young man and settled in South Dakota. He married Dorothea Marie Larson. They had the following children: Clarence, Alma, and Lewis. Ben worked for the Great Northern Railroad and lived in the Dakotas and Minnesota. After Dorothy's death, Ben moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico, to live with his son Clarence's family. He passed away there in July of 1964 and is buried in Breckenridge, Minnesota. Dorothy is also buried in Breckenridge, Minnesota.
