James Bobby "Bob" Laur, Sr., 87, of Peoria, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Accolade Healthcare of Peoria.

Born August 13, 1935 in Waltonville, Illinois to Hollie Haynes and Wilma (West) Laur, he married Thelma Jean Wright on December 20, 1956 in East Peoria. She died February 20, 2019 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Irene Sledge.

Surviving are one son, James B. (Sarah) Laur, Jr. of Peoria Heights; and one daughter, Lisa Matejewski of Peoria Heights.

Bob was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army.

He had worked at Bradley University in Peoria for 20 years before his retirement.

Bob enjoyed playing the piano and was of the Christian faith. He loved reading his bible everyday.

Burial will be at a later date at Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
