The News Palladium carried the obituary of Fred Henspeter on 22 Jun 1944: "Frederick Henspeter Of Buchanan Area, Dies Buchanan, June 22-The death of Frederick L. Henspeter of Clear Lake road, Buchanan, occurred late Wednesday afternoon at his home. A lifelong resident of Weesaw township, Mr. Henspeter was born in Chicago October 15, 1888, and came to Buchanan in 1890 with his parents, Christ and Alvina Henspeter. In 1910 he married Clara Angeline of New Troy, who survives him. He is survived by his widow and by three daughters: Mrs. Gertrude Herman, Niles; Mrs. Margaret Breeland, Galien, and Mrs. Lillian Hauch, New Troy. Also surviving are two brothers; Carl, of Pomona, Calif., and William; a sister, Mrs. Amos Carpenter of Three Oaks; half sisters Mrs. James Snyder, Benton Harbor; Mrs. Albert Wessendorf and Mrs. Mary Weik, St. Joseph; Mrs. Orville Fetke, Chicago; and a half-brother, Clyde Combrowsky of Alexandria, Va. Funeral arrangements are still incomplete. The body will be at the Henspeter home where friends may call."
