SUFFOLK - Clifford Eugene Harvell Jr., 81, died March 20, 2003, at Obici Hospital. Born Feb. 7, 1922, in Suffolk, he was the son of the late Amy Holland and Clifford Eugene Harvell Sr. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie Joyner Harvell and daughter, Carolyn Harvell. Mr. Harvell was retired from the Postal Service, after 35 years of service and Pond Brothers. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church, the Baraca Sunday School Class and Suffolk Masonic Lodge No. 30. A Troop 1 Eagle Scout, he was a longtime assistant Scout Master and a WWII Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Harvell; son, Gene Harvell and his wife, Mary, of Williamsburg; sister, Jane Eley and her husband, Lawrence, of Suffolk; grandchildren, Jarratt and Sarah Harvell. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Suffolk Christian Church by the Rev. Dr. Robert B. Marr with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Suffolk Christian Church, P.O. Box 1457, Suffolk, VA 23439.
