Mabel H. Russell, 75, of Fletcher, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 in a local hospital.

A native of the Big Pine section of Madison County, Mrs. Russell was a daughter of the late Maggie Gertrude Messer Henderson and Andrew Woodson Henderson.

Mrs. Russell retired as a switchboard operator from the telephone company.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil Russell, to whom she has been married for 56 years; two daughters, Beverly Cabe and her husband, Jerry of Fletcher and Janice Russell of Taylor, PA; two sons, Robert C. Russell and his wife, Marilyn of Benson, NC and Jimmy Russell of Greeneville, TN; five grandchildren, Molly Hensley, Shelley and Melissa Cabe, Audrey Novchich and her husband, Brian, Alisha and Allison Russell; a sister, Beulah Carson of Barnardsville and two brothers, Paul and Carl Henderson, both of Big Pine.

Interment will immediately follow in Shepherd Memorial Park.
