Mrs. Leona Potts was born in Wataga, Illinois to Hobert and Bessie Marr on August 5th,1922. She passed away at her home, surrounded by loved ones, on September 12th, 2022. She was one of four children; her older sister Mary "Edna", and two younger siblings, Lorene and Junior. She was raised in Big Clifty, Kentucky until the age of seven. Her family then moved to Rinn, Colorado where her parents eventually farmed for the Potts family. This is where she met the love of her life, Harvey O. Potts. Leona started dating Harvey at the age of 16 and then was married on August 10th, 1940. Harvey and Leona were married over 71 years before Harvey passed away in January, 2012. They welcomed their daughter, Leona "Darlene" Potts in August of 1941, and a son Jerald (Jerry) Potts in October, 1943. Leona and Harvey rode through life's ups and downs, holding onto each other tightly no matter what life brought them. In August, 1957, they lost their son Jerry in a tragic accident. After Harvey passed away, she lost her daughter, Darlene in 2017. Their love for one another got them through some dark times in their life. Leona was known for her kindness and immense love she had for her family. One of her greatest joys in life was her 4 grandchild, and eventually great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She provided guidance and wisdom, and always had an open door to all when they needed her. She had a way of making anyone feel better. She enjoyed countless hobbies, including fishing, sewing, digging through rocks, but her favorite was gambling. She loved sharing these activities with her friends and family. Leona is preceded in death by her parents, Hobert and Bessie Marr, her siblings Mary "Edna" Befus, and John Hobert Marr "Jr." Her spouse Harvey O. Potts, and children Leona "Darlene" Adler, and Jerald "Jerry" Potts. Leona is survived by her grandchildren Karen (John) Elshof, Gregg Adler, Kevin (Brit) Adler, and Troy (Nikki) Adler. She had twelve great grandchildren, and ten great-great children, along with many nieces and nephews.
