Torrington - Elizabeth J. Davis, also affectionately known as Lisa or Aunt Bette, 79, died peacefully with family by her side Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Hartford Hospital.

Elizabeth was born in Torrington on August 18, 1943, daughter of the late Leonard B. and Jane (Smith) Davis. She graduated from Litchfield High School and went on to have a successful career as a hair stylist and business owner. She was proprietor of the Reflections Beauty Salon in East Hartford for more than 15 years. She was later employed by Wesleyan University for 21 years in their mail services division. In retirement she worked at Barnes and Noble Book Store in Waterbury.

With generosity at the core of her spirit, Elizabeth had a heart that never stopped giving. She was the aunt that showered nieces and nephews with love and affection from the very beginning. In 1982 she started her own family when, as a single, working mom, she adopted two daughters, Joanie and Rachael. Later, she would show that same love towards her 5 grandchildren.

A voracious reader, she also loved to travel and always loved learning something new. Even when it became difficult, she would study online learning languages and history. And always close by, there was a faithful cat (or two) to share the house with.

Survivors include two daughters, Joan Nicholls of Winsted and Rachael DiBecelle and her husband, Dean, of Torrington; a brother, Gerald Davis and his wife, Marie, of Torrington; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Jonathan, Jesse, Devin, and Dominic, as well as several nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Davis, Jr., and a sister, Lyda Budney.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Dec. 5, at 7pm Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St, Torrington, CT. Calling hours will be held Monday Dec 5th from 5-7pm. Graveside services will be held at 11am on Dec 6th at Bantam Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society (cthumane.org/ways-to-give)
