He played football collegiately at Syracuse University before being drafted in the 7th round of the 1961 American Football League draft by the Buffalo Bills. He went on to play for the Bills for nine years before retiring after the 1969 season. During his tenure with the Bills, he was an AFL All-Star in 1965 and played on 2 AFL Championship-winning teams in 1964 and 1965. After his football career finished, he worked at various occupations including a substitute teacher, high school wrestling official, and a recreation coordinator at Wyoming Correctional Facility in Attica, New York.
