Michele A. (Patrick) Hallwachs, age 75, a resident of Newton, entered eternal life while surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at her home. Michele was born on December 28, 1946 in Manitowoc to the late Michael and Ann (Urbanec) Patrick. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc as a member of the class of 1965.

On October 21, 1967, Michele married the love of her life, Richard Hallwachs. She and Richard spent the next 42 years building a life together, raising their son, and watching their extended family grow until his death on October 15, 2009.

Michele began her working years as a waitress at Branch River Country Club. After her son started school, she began her career in the environmental services department at the Manitowoc County Healthcare Center. During her nearly 30 years at the Healthcare Center, Michele worked her way up through the department and, at the age of 40, enrolled in college to pursue a degree in Organizational Management. After transitioning to management, Michele sought other opportunities and joined Shady Lane Nursing Care Center as the Director of Environmental Services. After 18 years of sharing her beaming smile and sing-song "Good Morning!" greeting with the residents and staff, Michele retired and embarked on her next adventure. She continued her connection to Shady Lane's residents and staff as a volunteer in the gardens and during the annual Bake Sale, but as a retiree, Michele was able to pursue new hobbies. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her precious dog, Letti, traveling, connecting with friends, and staying active at the Wellness Center. Michele was also a lifelong member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and dedicated to her faith. In her spare time, Michele spread joy and facilitated happiness for others. She gave back to the community through her work as a Newton Lion. She loved seeing the excitement and appreciation on the faces of community members as she participated in the Lions' Memorial Day Brat Fry and Fun Days each summer. For many years Michele was "the cake lady". She had a great talent for baking and decorating cakes. She helped people celebrate their happiest moments: baptisms, birthdays, weddings, and retirements. From the simple sheet cake to the elaborate, multi-tiered wedding cake, Michele poured her patience, talent, and best wishes into each and every orders. But where Michele had the greatest impact was on her family. Michele was the pillar of the Patrick family. She photographed every family event. She worked tirelessly behind the scenes to gather, prep, and cook for every holiday meal. She ran errands, wrapped gifts, picked up kids from school, made and delivered meals, babysat, provided a kind ear and strong shoulder to cry on – all with a smile on her face and love in her beautiful heart. Michele brought so much light and joy and happiness into our lives – words cannot describe the depths of our love and appreciation for all she did, all she said, and all she gave to her family.

Survivors include Michele's beloved son, Michael (Kim) Hallwachs; brother, Jim (Sheryl) Patrick; two sisters, Margie (Dave Tice) Meyer and Theresa Patrick; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law to include: Donald (Deanna) Hallwachs, Kenneth (Lorna) Hallwachs, and Judy Helke; also cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and innumerable friends.
