Frank Baltzell, about 65, of near Claysville, was killed last night when he was apparently struck by a freight train which was shifting on the siding of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad at Claysville.
His body was found on the tracks near the Bell avenue crossing about 9:30 o'clock by "Bo" Hess, of Claysville.
Deputy Coroner Ray Brownlee was called and the body was removed to the Brownlee Funeral Home, where it was found that Baltzell had died of a fractured skull.
The train crew apparently knew nothing about the accident, having completed shifting about half an hour before the body was found.
Apparently the train had backed into him as he walked on the track on his way to his home on the Haneytown road.
Baltzell, who lived in the Claysville community for about 40 years was twice maried. His second wife survives.
