Civil War vet serving 2 enlistments, I have his diary with details about his service.
First married Mary Elizabeth Hunter, B.1840 D.1861. After she died his young son (Albert Webb Tallmadge) went to live with his parents, where he suffered a wagon accident and passed away at age 3. The army wouldn't allow Tallmadge to go home when this happened!
Before his 2nd enlistment he married Phoebe Elizabeth Pitts April 1863. Phoebe and William had 6 children, some dying as children.
He suffered from yellow fever. He also worked at Washington's Headquarters In Newburgh.
I had this photo in my safe for years and didn't know why, then I began my search for my ancestors beginning with this picture and the picture of his wife Phoebe.
