Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Dora Barnhart, sister, Marlene Hickel, twin brother, Dale Barnhart, mother-in-law, Ramona Vigil, father-in-law, Felimon Vigil and step-son, Christopher Tapia.
Dean worked retail sales retiring from Sears but later working for Lowe's Home Improvement Center. Dean fully retired in June 2020. Dean spent most of his time watching sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins which were his favorite teams.
