Judith Elaine (Lohroff) Kane, 82, of St. Joseph went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at her home in the care of her family.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, with the Rev. Paul Delmark officiating. Friends may meet the family from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Final resting place will be in the Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085 or Fellowship Bible Church, 12243 Red Arrow Highway, Sawyer, MI.
Judy was born on Feb. 15, 1940, in Benton Harbor, the daughter of the late Ervin and Edith (Crawford) Appelget. She graduated from Berrien Springs High School, Class of 1958. She met and married Robert L. Lohraff on April 14, 1961, and he preceded her in death in 1973.
Judy had many hobbies. She composed, arranged and taught piano and organ. She started playing piano at the age of 10 in junior church and played continually since then. She played piano for the Benton Harbor High School Choir and liked to color, knit and write poetry. Judy was a member of Fellowship Bible in Sawyer and worked for Flaugh Insurance in Benton Harbor for 18 years.
Survivors include her sons: Robert "Tony" Lohroff, Christopher (Elaine) Lohroff; grandchildren: Sarah and Hannah Lohroff, Matt and Adam Fohs; brothers: Richard (Faye) Appelget and Robert (Deborah) Appelget; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her first husband, and parents, Judy was preceded in death by her second husband, John Kane; a son, David Lohraff and daughter-in-law, Betty Lohroff; brother: Mike Gates Appelget and a sister, Patricia (Appelget) Horn.
