Gale A. Windus, age 79, a resident of Manitowoc, entered into eternal life with his daughter by his side on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Gale was born on October 31, 1943 in Manitowoc to the late Erwin and Helen (Heinzen) Windus. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1962.

On May 29, 1965, Gale married Jenny Carstens at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on September 9, 2016.

Gale enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1969.

He had worked at Kurth Malting from 1972 to 1994, and later went on to work at Stecker Machine Co. from where he retired in 2004. Gale was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731 and Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working in his yard, taking rides to the casino with Jenny, golfing with his grandsons, and above all, spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include Gale's daughter, Kim (Fritz Jr.) Emme; three grandchildren, Nicholas Emme, Alex Emme and his fiancé Natasha, and Anna Emme and her fiancé Braedon; brother, Paul (Evelyn) Windus; sister, Diane Detrie; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Gaedtke and Barb Windus; also other relatives and friends.

Gale was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Helen Windus; wife, Jenny; son, Jeffrey Windus; two brothers, Larry Windus and Chuck Windus; three brothers-in-law, Roman Gaedtke, Kenneth Detrie, and Charles Waniger; and sister-in-law, Lois Waniger.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Kujawski officiating. Committal services with military rites accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731 will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:30 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com

The in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Gale's name.
