Funeral services for Vernon Westmoreland Jr. age 79 will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday March 26, 2008 at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Dr. Philip Jett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Westmoreland died Saturday March 22, 2008 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church for many years and was a deacon.
Mr. Westmoreland is survived by his wife of 64 years Bess Westmoreland of Jackson, TN. He is also survived by his grandson, Todd Westmoreland of Westvillle, IN; his sisters Lou Stavanau of Humboldt, TN and Dorothy Cook of Olive Branch, MS; brothers, Jack Westmoreland of Paris, TN, Joe Westmoreland of Lake Village, IN, Aaron Westmoreland of Olive Branch, Ms; Bill Westmoreland and Dale Westmoreland of Lake Station, IN and Alan Westmoreland of Cleveland, OH and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son ,Danny Westmoreland; his sisters, Joyce Trinosky and Judy Longmire and his brothers, Frank and Jim Westmoreland.
Pallbearers to serve are Rodney Arnold, Dave Trinosky, Kevin Hicks, Richard Westmoreland, Todd Westmoreland and Albert Jones.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Allyn Stavanau and Mark Westmoreland.
Memorials may be directed to Englewood Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends today from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
