OBITUARY

PEARL NARCISSA HUMPHREYS, the only child of Jesse Evans and Annie M. Humphreys, was born in Odebolt, Iowa, April 19, 1886. In 1888 she moved with her parents to Bassett, Nebraska, where she attended school and grew to womanhood.

The family later moved to the Butka Community in Southern Rock County, where Pearl met and married Glen Day Gorball on July 2, 1903; to this union nine children were born: five sons and four daughters.

Glen and Pearl Gorball homesteaded in Rock County where they resided most of their married life. She joined the Evangelical Church at Rose, Nebraska, and was a member of the Bassett United Methodist Church at the time of her death. She was a charter member of the Willing Workers Club and was involved in Community affairs and in 4-H Club work.

Her later years were spent as a resident of the Hillside Manor Home in Bassett and then the Bethel Nursing Home in Ainsworth. She died to this life, at the Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth, NE., December 8, 1975 at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 19 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glen, in 1953, two children and four grandchildren.

Pearl is survived by seven children: Harry E. Gorball of Lander, WY; Jesse Day Gorball of Laurie, MO: Hazel Howarth of Omaha, NE: Harold F. Gorball of Forest City, IA.: Warren Gee Gorball of Grants Pass, OR,: Maxine Binsted of Potomac, MD: Mildred Nichols of Blair, NE: 14 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
