Obit

Sylvester M. Gorball was born at Girard, Michigan, August 11, 1850. He came to Butler County, Nebraska, in 1883, thence to Pierce County, in 1893, and to Rock County in 1902. Since coming to this county he has resided most of the time in Gracey precinct, though he ran the Crescent Hotel in Bassett, for a time. Nov. 10 1869, he was married to Miss Barbara A. Day, and four children were born to them, viz: George H., Glen D., Carroll E., and Mrs. Mark Howard, all of whom reside in this county. Mr. Gorball died in Bassett, Sunday, May 27, 1906, of a complication of kidney and heart troubles. He had not been well for several months but was not considered seriously ill until within the last few days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday, May 30, Rev. Egner delivering the address. The Odd Fellows and A.O.J.W. of which he was a member assisted in the exercises and the body interred in Crooks cemetery. (Two miles west of Bassett, NE )

The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community in their sad affliction.
