Abbey Lynn Steele, 20 years of age, was born on May 17, 2002 in Rapid City, SD to Amy R. Steele and Gerald Davey Red Leaf. Abbey made her journey to the Spirit World on December 2, 2022 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Abbey was born at Rapid City Regional Hospital. For her elementary years, Abbey attended Roosevelt Elementary School in Bismarck, ND and Horace Mann Elementary in Rapid City, SD. Middle school, she attended North Middle School and South Middle School both in Rapid City, SD. High school, she attended Sturgis High School in Sturgis, SD. Abbey spent her childhood in Bismarck, ND. She played the flute and played in Volleyball. In 2013, the family moved back to Rapid City, SD. Abbey was very strong spoken and outgoing. She made friends easily, anywhere she went and always had a good sense of humor and lots of jokes to tell. Any room she walked into, she brightened. She was very selfless and deeply protective over who she loved. Abbey's life revolved around the love she shared for her children, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a very caring daughter, sister, niece, cousin, granddaughter, and friend. Abbey will be remembered as a strong, outgoing, and loving angel.

Abbey is survived by her very special friend, Edward 'Eddie' Little Bear; mother, Amy R. Steele of Rapid City, SD; children, Ariana Steele and Elias Little Bear; sister, Maria A. Steele and her children: Gabriel, Luis, Reyna and Nevada; brother, Blair Smith of Longview, WA; father, Gerald D. Red Leaf and his kids-brother & sister to Abbey, Tristan, Tylee, and Charissa Lundin; aunts, Heather Steele and her Kids: Connor, Elijah, Sahara, Lucas, Lindsey, Amelia, and Cason; Angel Flying Hawk and her Kids: Stephen, Tristen, and Alexander; Roberta Little Dog & Kirk Huwe and Kids: Kyle and Christopher Little Dog, Justin and Trey Huwe; uncle: Wesley Steele and his daughter, Tea Escobar and her children; grandmother, Audrey Apple; and cousins, Taylor and Andrew Amiotte, Wikinyan Mesteth and Sarah Amiotte & children; Kayla Mesteth and her children: Treasure and Taycee.

Abbey was preceded in death by her aunts, Catherine Little Dog, Lori Mesteth, and Hope Red Leaf; cousins, Jesus Vance and Eliseo A. Steele; uncles, Robert & Steve Little Dog, Duane Steele Jr.; maternal great grandparents, Paul & Stella Apple-King; special friend of the family, Manuel Bald Eagle; paternal grandfather, Duane "Buzzy" Louis Steele; and best friends, Marissa Adams and Tanner Bruce both from Sturgis, SD.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Amiotte, Kyle Little Dog, Elijah Steele, Joseph D. Looks Twice, Ernie Evans, Cody Hartford, Justin Huwe and Trey Huwe.
