Mr. Koplin was born August 28, 1898, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of John F. and Augusta (Larson) Koplin. He married Luella Bubs September 5, 1922. She died August 3, 1985. He was a longtime resident of Union County, South Dakota, and farmed just north of Spink, South Dakota until moving to Buhl in 1990.
He was a member of Brule Creek Lutheran Church, rural Elk Point, South Dakota.
Survivors include three sons, Eldon and his wife Alverta of Winona, Minnesota, John L. and his wife Bev of Green Valley, Arizona, and Ronald of San Diego, California; three daughters, Loraine Hoffman and her husband Warren of Shreveport, Louisiana, Norma Morehead and her husband Arnold of Buhl, and Shirley Lauters of Fresno, California; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Elmer and William; one sister, Cora Larson; one grandson, John E. Koplin.
