WAXHAW, N.C. -- Tara Tipton Foltz, 35, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, following a courageous eight-month battle with cancer. Tara was born in Greer, SC, and after attending schools there she graduated from Lander University in 1995 with a BS degree. She had been employed with Velux and Cutler-Hammer in Greenwood prior to marrying Mark Foltz in 1999, after which they relocated to the Charlotte area.
She is survived by her husband and two children, Max, 6 and Ella, 2; her parents, Tony and Judy Tipton and a brother, Tony Jr. of Greer; two maternal grandmothers; and Lee and Sandy Foltz from the Fort Mill, SC, area; her sister-in-law, Lisa St. John and her family from Waxhaw, NC.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Tara had a deep faith and was very active in her church, Weddington United Methodist, where there will be a memorial service on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. In addition, there will be a memorial service on Monday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Greer, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations in Tara's name be sent to The Harris Hospice Unit of Presbyterian Healthcare, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204. The family is in the care of Gaskin Services of Matthews, NC, at http://www.gaskinservices.com.
