Katherine "Kat" (Comer) O'Shields, 80, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at White Oak Estates.

Born July 14, 1927, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ida Mae (Randall) Comer and the wife of the late James Wiley "Shealy" O'Shields.

A longtime employee of Butte Knit where she was an inspector and store manager, she was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Eddie O'Shields and his wife Susan of Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Sheila Welch and her husband Kim of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Ronald Comer and Keith Comer, both of Spartanburg; a sister, Shirley Dean of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Allison, Carrie, and Emmie; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
