Death of Mr. J. Leander Morrison
"Mr. J. Leander Morrison died Friday November 9th at the State Hospital. He had been in bad health for about three years, his health impairing his mind for the last few months of his life. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Snow Hill, near his old home, conducted by Rev. Queen, and burial made in the churchyard there.
"The deceased was in his 78th year, born Feb. 18th, 1840. He is survived by four children, Mrs. W. T. Fleming, of Morganton, Mrs. Della Beck of Table Rock, Mr. R. L. Morrison, of Garland, Texas, and John Morrison of Plano, Texas. For a number of years he made his home with Mrs. Fleming, who with Mr. Fleming did everything possible for the old gentleman.
"Mr. Morrison was a native of Burke. For years he had lived in the Table Rock neighborhood and later with his two sons moved to Texas. He had the reputation of being an honest, upright man and was held in high esteem by all who knew him."
