WALTER REMER

Walter F. Remer, 88, of 4524 Nipigon Dr., Gladwin, died at his home Monday, Dec. 2, after a long illness. Born in Saginaw July 8, 1897, he came to Gladwin County in 1968 from Flat Rock. Mr. Remer was employed by the State Treasury Dept. until 1952 when he began the Remer Insurance Agency with his sons in Flat Rock. He served in the Navy during World War I. Mr. Remer was a charter member of the DAV No. 4 in Saginaw, and was DAV state commander from 1936-37. He was a member of the DAV 337 and the American Legion in Flat Rock. Mr. Remer also served 3 terms in the Michigan House of Representatives for 1934-39. He and the former Ethel Menter were married Aug. 8, 1922, in Saginaw.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Walter of Gladwin and Roger of Flat Rock; 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. John Rex will officiate and burial will be in the Ridge Cemetery.
