‎ ‎ ‎ Services for Mrs. Joe P. Brumbach, 66, Route 3. Parma, Idaho, who died Tuesday, January 27, 1973, at the Malheur Memorial Hospital , were conducted at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Ontario at 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 2, by the Rev. John Worrall, Interment was at the Parma Cemetery.
‎ ‎ ‎ Mrs. Harriet Ahearn Brumbach was born April 25, 1907, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She attended public schools in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, and was graduated from MacLaughlin High in 1927. After attending Whitman College, Eastern Oregon College, and University of Oregon, she was awarded her B.A. degree from the University of Washington. Later she earned her M.A. degree in librarianship from The College of Idaho in 1962.
‎ ‎ ‎ She married Joe P. Brumbach in Ontario June 1, 1941. They resided in the Adrian community.
‎ ‎ ‎ A lifelong career in teaching in Malheur County began in the fall of 1930. She retired in the spring of 1972 after having taught in Ontario Lower Bend, Adrian, and Nyssa. For several summers, Mrs. Brumbach served on the original staff of the first state-funded school for migrant children at Cairo School. In 1950, at the request of Nyssa Public School, Mrs. Brubach developed and continued the secondary library program until her retirement. From 1961-66, concurrent with library responsibilities, she pioneered in the field of guidance and counseling.
‎ ‎ ‎ She was active in the PTA, the Nyssa Education Association, served on the State Board of Trustees for the Oregon Education Association, and was an Oregon delegate to the National Education Convention. She was a charter member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, national teachers' honorary. She participated in the Big Bend Grange and was a member of the National Grange. She was active in the Kingman Kolony Book Club and the Malheur County and Oregon State Library Associations. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and Loyalty Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star at Milton-Freewater.
‎ ‎ ‎ Surviving in addition to her husband is a brother, J.J. Ahearn, Salt Lake City.
