Edith Erdine Butcher was born July 5, 1874 in Marshall County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Alfred Butcher and Frances "Fannie" Rugg. She married Henry Franklin "Frank" Calhoun on February 20, 1895 in Fulton County, Indiana. Frank and Edith were the parents of seven children: Jennie E., James William, Levi N., Hazel M., Frances V., Loy F. and Wilma G. Edith died on April 7, 1966 in Knox, Starke County, Indiana and was buried on April 9, 1966.

Edith E. Calhoun

Mrs. Edith Erdine CALHOUN, 91, Monterey, died at 2 a.m. Thursday at the Knox Nursing Home. Her husband, Franklin [CALHOUN], died in 1925. The daughter of Alfred and Frances JONES BUCHER (BUTCHER), she was born July 5, 1874. She was a member of the Monterey Methodist Church and the WSCS.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Frances MASTER, Monterey, and Mrs. Wilma ZEHNER, Knox; two sons, James [CALHOUN], R.R. 4, Rochester, and Loy [CALHOUN], Delong; a half-brother, Leslie CARPENTER, Rochester; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Fry and Lange Funeral Home at Winamac with the Rev. Norris KING officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Monterey. Friends may call at the funeral home.
