Wenzel was the 2nd second of Joseph and Theresa Kohout. He married Georgiana Donavan on June 7, 1904. He worked as a car inspector in Manitowoc. The couple raised two daughters; Grace (Sherman O'Connell) and Esther (Harold Guse), and one son Kenneth Kohout (Arlene).
