Donald J. "Mac" McPherson, 67, of the Beckley Road, Spanish-burg, died early Sunday morning, January 27, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born May 23, 1940, at Anjean, he was the son of the late Sonta Kegley "Sont" McPherson and Goldie Belcher McPherson.

Mac was a graduate of Matoaka High School, Class 1958. He had worked for the N & W Railroad, and retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad in Bluefield as Yard Clerk with over 29 years of service. Mac was a member of the B.R.A.C. Union. Mac was a charter member of the Shawnee Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World. He loved his family, enjoyed watching the Mountaineer', was an avid wood worker, liked to cook and bake and truly loved to fish. The real enjoyment of Mac's life, his grandson Dalton, taking him to his games, watching the Mountaineers, just being in his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, June Roberts and Mamie Farley.

Survivors: His loving and caring wife of 45 years, Freda Bowling McPherson; one daughter and son in law, Melissa Ann and Buck Walls of Spanishburg; grandson, Dalton Blake Walls; siblings, S.K. McPherson and wife Helen of King, N.C., Barbara Tucker, Ella Mae Cotterman and husband Vernon both of Sarasota, Fla.; brother in law, Daryl Farley of Mechanicsville, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Ronnie Richards and Casper Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Ten Commandments, Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family today (Tuesday) from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Stafford, Jack Fredeking, Jim Lilly, Buck Walls, Johnny Walls and Bobby Honaker.
