Barbara Czeslawa Giese, age 48 of Somers passed away at her residence on September 15, 2007.
Born on February 8, 1959 in Barglow, Poland, she was the daughter of George and Barbara (Kowalewski) Godlewski. She attended 1st grade in Barglow, Poland, then completed grade school at St. Stanislaus in Racine. Barb graduated from J.I. Case High School, and then completed several other degrees: Registered Nurse, from St. Luke Nursing School; BSN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, from UW-Milwaukee; and Masters Degree in Guidance & Counseling, from Carthage College.

On May 22, 1993 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Kenosha she married Todd Giese. They were blessed with a son Michael.

Barb worked as a guidance counselor for Gateway Technical College for over seventeen years. She was gifted intellectually and personally. Her education and desire to help others was a guiding force in her life.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church; a member of Sigma Theta Tau; as well as the Treasurer for Polish National Alliance Lodge # 1939.

Her Polish heritage was something of incredible pride. Barbara maintained many Polish family traditions and enjoyed cooking authentic meals. Thankfully, her love of family and fondness for her heritage made it easy to maintain her devotion. As a writer of poetry, Barb could speak to all of these things as her words spilled thoughts on paper – capturing the essence of life from her perspective.

Now left to cherish her memory, her poetry, and her gift of Polish heritage, is the family she loved so much: her husband Todd; her son Michael at home; her parents, George and Barbara Godlewski of Somers; a brother, Maciej Godlewski of Racine; two sisters: Margaret (Paul) Wadzinske of Brookfield, Wisc, and Mary Ann (Dennis) Brodjeski of Caledonia, Wisc; and 8 nieces and nephews: Melissa (Mike) Briggs, Monica Godlewski and Marcus Godlewski, Jacob, Alena and Craig Wadzinske, and Blake and Gideon Brodjeski. Barb will also be missed by Todd's brother, sister, uncles and their families.

Barbara was preceded in death by an infant brother, Bogdan, and a nephew, Vaughn Brodjeski.
