"Bob" Swan was the son of Robert Burns Swan and Irene Hoffiness Swan of Kansas.

He married Eunice "Merle" (Ford) Swan, of Bastrop, Morehouse Parish, Louisiana on Jan. 22, 1952/53 at Smokey Hill Air Force Base (later Schilling AFB, now closed) near Salinas, Kansas. They were the parents of three daughters, Scarlett Marie, Rita Maria and Francine Irene, and one son, Robert Benoni Swan, III.
