Mr. Clemons was born on Dec. 8, 1936, in Madison County and passed away on Tuesday in Shreveport after a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Carolyn; his parents, Felix and Melvin Clemons; brother, Buddy Clemons; sisters, Shirley Sue Clemons and Sarah Jenkins; and his son, Mark Alan Clemons.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Darryl Clemons and wife Mary Ellen, and Wade Clemons and wife Shannon, all of Keithville, La.; his brothers, Buck Clemons, Eugene Clemens and wife Alberta, David Clemons and wife Cathy, Billy Ray Clemons and wife Toni, and Paul Clemons and wife Peggy, all of Huntsville; sisters, Mary Ann Duffy, Martha Myers, Betty Faye Reavis and husband Bill, and Sally Johnson and husband Johnny, all of Huntsville; grandchildren, Christina, David, Marietta and Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy served 20 honorable years in the U.S. Army and retired Sgt. First Class. He valiantly fought for our freedom once in Korea and twice in Vietnam. Upon retirement from the Army, he worked for Blount Bros. Construction and later drove a truck over the road.
John Talley, Mark Johnson, Kenneth Barnhill, Winfred Clemons, Cline Blount, and Bo Blount will serve as pallbearers. Buddy Howard, Richard Scott, and Elton Allen are honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Clemons was a dedicated member of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Shreveport. The family would like to express their gratitude to everyone that has helped support them during Roy's illness, and a special thanks to Ms. Frances Schroll for the many ways and countless hours she has helped.
