Michael Dean O'Neill died at the age of 68 on January 5, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by loved ones. Mike was born in Des Moines, Iowa on September 4, 1953, to Bonnie Rife and Carl O'Neill.
Mike is survived by the love of his life and his wife of 35 years, Sherry O'Neill; children, Tony O'Neill, Angela O'Neill, stepchildren; Jamie Arndt, Jason Cooper, and Tracy Cooper; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his Aunt Luree Marturello.
Anyone that knew Mike knew that he was a miraculous person with the eagerness to make people laugh by reciting jokes and sharing an array amount of knowledge and intellect. He was one of the most caring and giving people that you would ever meet. He loved his stepchildren who he began to raise when they were at a young age to adulthood. Mike loved all his children and did everything he could with his kids to have them understand great morale, grow independence, and made sure they did things as a family just to see huge smiles on his children's faces. Ironically, he loved to teach his kids and grandkids how to drive and his favorite spot was at the Fairgrounds. There are so many great memories of Mike, and all his friends and family will carry the love and laughter he shared with them in their hearts.
The family will receive visitors at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa 50321 on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 1-2 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 2.
