Grandmother died before I was born, so I have no personal memories of her. She is often described as a "real pistol." Minnie's husband, Noble, was a very quiet, patient man. While they would be described as total opposites, they had a very happy marriage.
Grandmother apparently loved to go for long car rides, although she never learned to drive. When my father went into the Army, he left his shiny convertible parked in front of the house, and gave the keys to his mother. She would call up my mother, and get her to take her for a long ride.
Sadly, Grandmother had a stroke and died just a few days before my parents were scheduled to be married. She was raised as a Lutheran, but was always fascinated by the Catholic faith. Her father forbade her to go to Catholic Church, but she went anyway. She was baptized as a Catholic shortly before her death.
I am sorry I never got to know her, but judging from all of the family stories, I know we would have loved each other very much.
