Wife of Isham Hodges Sr. A Clay family genealogy chart compiled by Clifford Charles Clay of Atlanta in 1943, which is on file at the Tennessee State Library and Archives, shows Betsy's father, William Clay, was the son of William Mitchell Clay (1710-1774), and the grandson of Henry Clay (1672-1760) and Mary Mitchell Clay of Henrico County, Virginia.
The burial place of Betsy and her husband Isham is not known. The best information is that they are buried in a small private place on their family farm. (page 21. "The Family of Isham and Betsy Hodges from Virginia to Tennessee", by Juanita M. Patton
