Miriam R. Glock, 100, died at her home at University Retirement Community on Aug. 6, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert W. Glock, and her twin brother, David.

Miriam was born in Los Angeles and attended Holmby College there. Her father, David B. Richardson, was the assistant district attorney for the city of Los Angeles.

Miriam met her husband, Bob, when he was stationed in Los Angeles during World War II, and they were married in 1942. Miriam and Bob settled in Davis in 1966 after Bob was appointed associate chancellor for business affairs at UC Davis. They lived in El Macero and were active in the El Macero Country Club, where Miriam belonged to bridge and ladies golf groups.

Miriam was also very active in her community and belonged to the ladies farm circle and a women's investment group. She also spent many volunteer hours teaching English to new immigrants.

Generous supporters of UC Davis, Miriam and Bob established an endowed chair in the School of Management and were active in the Chancellor's Club. Over the years, Miriam hosted many events at her home for members of the UC Davis faculty and staff.

She is survived by her niece, Charline, her nephew, George and their spouses and children.

There will be a graveside service at the Davis Cemetery at 1o a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11.
