Brother of Emanuel, Susan, William, Daniel, Noah, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Nancy, Margaret, Elias, and Ellen.
Husband of Jennie M. DOUGLAS (1855-1933); married Feb. 22, 1877, in Clinton County, Indiana.
Father of Marvin, Mason, Marion, and Lucy.
Born in Hocking County, Ohio, Philip moved to Fairfield County, Ohio, with his family by 1960. He moved on to Clinton County, Indiana, before 1880.
NOTE: The 1909 HUFFORD FAMILY HISTORY (at page 31) lists Philip's birth date as September 16, 1943, and Philip had a brother born in November 1944. In other words, the birth year is wrong on the gravestone.

He was born in Ohio, in 1843, but came to this county when a young man and for several years he made his home with William Ruch, and he and Ruch ran a steam threshing outfit, one of the first ever operated in the county. In those days the threshing season lasted a long time and there was some money in it for machine owners. When Hufford had accumulated a little bunch of money he bought a tract of land across the road from the Robt. Mattix place. Most of the tract was timberland, but Hufford cleared it up, and made a fine farm of it. Later on he bought adjoining lands and became quite an extensive land owner.
