Clifton Reid Dies In Traffic Accident
Clifton Reid, former Gonzales county resident, was killed in an automobile accident in Port Arthur last Thursday afternoon, word was received here by his mother, Mrs. Inez Reid.
The car in which he and his son, Gene, 17, were riding was hit by another, turning it over. Reid lived about an hour. His son was hospitalized but released Friday morning.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Nunnley-Stanley funeral home in Port Arthur with his pastor of the First Baptist church, that city, in charge. Masonic rites will also be held. Burial will be in Port Arthur.
Survivors include his wife and two children, Gene 17; and Katherine, 13 Port Arthur; his mother, Gonzales; three aunts, Miss Lillie Mae Stulting Mrs. F. C. Reid, Gonzales and Mrs. Potter Brown, Kerrville.

Funeral services for Clifton C. Reid, 55, of 3948 Lewis drive, who died of injuries received in an auto accident Thursday, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Nunnelly Staley Chapel of the Chimes in z port Arthur. Dr. John M. Wright, pastor of First Baptist church officiated. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Masonic graveside rites.
Members of Cosmopolitan Lodge 872 assembled at the Masonic Temple at 1 p.m. Saturday to conduct memorial services at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Reid, filter plant supervisor at the Texas Company, died in St. Mary's hospital Thursday at 6:40 p.m. from injuries in an auto collision at 12th avenue and Fifth street.He suffered back and chest injuries. He had lived in Port Arthur 35 years.
Mr. Reid was a native of Gonzales. He had been with the Texas Company here for 27 years and was a member of the Cosmopolitan Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Moore, Reid, a son Eugene C. Reid; daughter Katherine Reid; his mother, Mrs. Inez Reid of Gonzales, and an aunt, Miss Lilly Mae Stulting of Gonzales.
