Arlene H. Angell, 92, passed away peacefully after a long illness at Symphony Maple Crest in Belvidere, IL on December 28, 2022.  Born in Muscatine, Iowa, on March 11, 1930 to Walter and Rosetta (Hines) Martz. Arlene grew up on a small farm where her father was a saddler and her mother a homemaker. Arlene was fiercely independent and left home at age 16 to work and continue her schooling. She met and married her husband, Donald Angell, on February 17, 1948.  They remained married until his death on August 2, 2011. They lived in the same home from 1959 until Arlene transitioned into assisted living in 2016.

Arlene and Don enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques. Arlene was a great cook who also enjoyed going to garage sales and working in her yard. After Arlene retired as a supervisor from Tuttle Electric, she and Don were snowbirds for 30 years, traveling back and forth to Florida.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Helen (Mike) Howell of Monroe Center, IL; son, Don (Ellen) Angell of The Villages, FL; grandchildren, Beth Anne (Ryan) Noble of Windsor, CO and Steven (Lisa) Howell of Monroe Center, IL; and great-grandson, Liam Noble of Windsor, CO.
