HARRY JAMES ARTMAN

Harry James Artman, 76, Valley Falls, died Thursday morning, Dec. 11, in a Topeka nursing home where he had been a patient several months.

He was born Oct. 8, 1899, at Larkinburg, the son of Stephen and Rebecca Artman.

He was graduated from Denison high school and attended the University of Kansas. He graduated from a school of pharmacy at Wichita.

Mr. Artman had been a druggist in Marysville for 47 years before retiring and moving to Valley Falls in 1966. He was a Marine veteran of WWII, serving overseas.

He was a member of the American Legion at Horton and the Grahem-Herbers Post No. 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars, at Valley Falls. He was also a member of the Valley Falls Masonic Lodge No. 21, AF&AM and the Kansas Pharmaceutical Association. Mr Artman was a contributor to the Outland Scholarship fund at KU for many years. He also was a past member of the Marysville Rotary club.

He was married to Zelma Norris on Sept. 2, 1922, at Holton. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bryce K. Valley, Topeka; two sons, Norris G. Artman, Hays, and James M. Artman, San Francisco; a sister, Mrs. Edna Bonebrake,
Woodston; a brother, Noel G. Artman, Sun City, Ariz.; six grandchildren and two
step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the First United Methodist church with the Rev. Ted Hunter officiating. Mrs Edward Lindsay was organist. Graveside services were
conducted at the Valley Falls cemetery by Grahem-Herbers Post No. 3084 V.F.W.
Pallbearers were Greever Allan, Bill Metzger, Lloyd Hatfield, Tom Crawford, Pat Davies,
Ron Dial and Lloyd Barker.

Nellis-Hagge Funeral Home was in charge of Arrangements.
