Bernice Carlisle, 78, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Carlisle was born April 13, 1929, in Urania, La., to the late T. J. and Mary McDonald Durham. She was reared and received her education in Urania. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1958.
Mrs. Carlisle married Joe W. Carlisle on Sept. 13, 1947, in Urania, La. Mr. Carlisle passed away in 1996.
She was employed several places in Pine Bluff before retiring. She was a clerk at the former Lakeside Grocery Store for several years, she had also worked at the Cherry Street Drugstore. Mrs. Carlisle was also a nurse's aide at Trinity Village for 14 years.
She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Carlisle is survived by two sons, Ronnie Carlisle of Pine Bluff, and Joe Allen Carlisle of Holcomb, Texas; five grandchildren, Gabriel John Carlisle and Joshua Caleb Carlisle, both of Pine Bluff, Israel David Carlisle of Springfield, Mo., Daniel Nathan Carlisle of Mass., and Joseph Carlisle of Texas; three step-grandchildren, Amy, Emily, and Brian Fulmer; and three brothers, Buddy, Clarence, and D.L. Durham of La.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe W. Carlisle, a son, Terry Carlisle, and four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, 10 a.m., at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Floyd McDonnell officiating. Interment will be in Cypress Memorial Gardens by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
