Joie Belle Johns Sanders, 90, of Springville Utah, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022. She was born on August 6, 1932, in Mesa, Arizona, to David Landon John and Nancy Allen Johns*. Joie graduated from high school in Tracy, California. On June 29, 1950, she married James Parvin Sanders, in Stockton, California. After James joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1960. James preceded Joie in death on September 21, 2013, in Mapleton Utah.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting and crafts. She sewed her daughters' dresses and clothes; she was a very good seamstress. She was a very caring wife and mother to her three daughters. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she taught in Primary and Relief Society. Her husband, James, was in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1968. They moved to many different places. England where their first daughter, Connie, was born and Sacramento, California, where their other two daughters, Jackie and Susan, were born. They also lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, Hampton and Norfolk, Virginia, and many other cities. James and Joie loved living in Trinidad, California, on the coast where they would fish for Salmon and Tuna. They enjoyed every place they lived.

Joie is survived by her three daughters: Connie Becker, of Sandy, Oregon; Jackie (Ted) Zylstra, of Silver Springs, Nevada; Susan (Kim) Skinner, of Parowan, Utah; her sister, Ruby Simpson, age 98, of Tavares, Florida. Joie has 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers, Clyde A. and David Ferrel.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Utah State Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held the day before on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary located at 211 East 200 South in Springville Utah. Please join us in the celebration of Joie Sanders life.
