Joe was born on March 31, 1939, in Columbiana, where he spent his entire life. After graduating from Shelby County High School in 1957, he went to work for Alvin and Francis Stinson at Gulf Oil. After many years of hard work, in 1967, he and his brother, Charles, started Tidmore Oil Company. It was there that he spent the next 30 years building the company before retirement in 1997. Joe was a free mason at South Shelby Lodge 140. He recently received his fifty-year Masonic pin.
In 1959, Joe married his high school sweetheart: Brenda Brown. She was the love of his life for the next 63 years. Joe and Brenda went on to have two children.
Joe was predeceased by his parents: Braxton Tidmore and Eunice Edwards; sister: Sandra Scoggins; brother: Ricky Tidmore; and grandson: Braxton Richardson.
