John Newton Accettola, passed away on Jan. 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife and family at age 85.

John held various positions at Weirton Steel and retired after 34 years as Senior Supervisor of the machine shop.

He was a faithful parishioner at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton.

John was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and a member of the Moose Lodge 688 for over 50 years.

He was also a longtime member and volunteer in the Pittsburgh Ski Club and enjoyed many activities such as skiing, kayaking, square dancing, many socializing events, and yearly group trips to Myrtle Beach.

He was preceded in death by his father Louis Accettola, mother Hulda Rose Shannon Accettola Sesto, stepfather James Sesto, first wife Bonnie Costello Accettola, sons Scott and Michael Accettola, and granddaughter Chelsea Bowler.

John will be forever cherished by his loving wife Sandra Uram Barber Accettola, daughter Kathleen Accettola, stepson Bradley Barber and his fiancée Beverly Gumpher, sister Shirley Craig, brother Larry Sesto (Diane), granddaughters Devani Barber, Micheline Etheridge, and Misty Griffin; three great grandchildren, five nieces, five nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Friends and Family will be received on Saturday, January 7th, from 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.

Monsignor Joseph Peterson will preside.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, WV on Saturday, January 7th, at 1:00 PM.
