Farrell was born October 14, 1930 to Leo C. Rood and Ladessa (Pickering) in Arkansas City. She attended and graduated from Arkansas City schools. She later married Jack Alsip and the couple made their home in Arkansas City and Silverdale, where they owned and operated Miller Oil Company. Farrell was the bookkeeper for their family business.
Farrell is survived by her daughter, Ronda Bruce of Wichita, grandchildren, Ashley Duncan of Overland Park and Kelly Bruce of Joplin, MO; great-grandson, Jake Bruce.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Jack Alsip, and brother, William Rood.
