Nikki Helmeczi Love Abbott, one of a kind, amazingly unique, loving wife, mother, sister and friend went to be with the Lord Friday, April 8, 2022, after struggling with her failing heart. She was 47 years old.
Nikki was born to loving parents, Jim and Maureen Helmeczi, on February 10, 1975, in New Jersey. She spent her childhood summers at the Jersey shore and there started her lifelong love of the beach, shell collections and sea glass. Her family moved to Missouri in 1984. She was a graduate of Liberty High School, excelling in drawing, painting, jewelry making and music composition. She was an artist, a dead head, a poet and a ninja. Nikki went on to earn her degree in Web Design and also to study Nursing. She lovingly nursed and cared for many as a home health nurse and Home Health Care Advocate. Her warm caring manner brightened the days of her patients as she treated them with dignity and respect.
She had a strong passion to help hurting people. She had a burden for the homeless and gave of her time and resources to help whoever she could. She was wonderfully compassionate.
Nikki was the proud and loving mother of her three children Dylan, James and Annabelle. Having lost her own mother early in life, Nikki dedicated herself to her children and made many selfless sacrifices for their wellbeing and protection. She taught her children great lessons about survival, understanding the world and the people in it, spiritual matters, music and how to just beautifully be themselves. Nikki swam upstream and against the grain of many commonly accepted ideas. She was a student at heart and forever learning and researching current events, History, politics, religion, science and how they all connected. She had a strong desire for people to clearly understand the world we live in, its dangers and its joys.
Nikki loved Jesus and freedom. She was a patriot. The last few years of her life, her walk with Christ deepened to such a sweet friendship. She'd often be heard saying, "Jesus is my best friend." or "No worries, Jesus will tell me what to do". Her trust in Him grew throughout her life as she witnessed His faithfulness. He carried her through many challenges and sorrows. The Lord also beautifully designed and equipped Nikki to shine for Him and change the world through it all.
Nikki was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Scott, her three children, Dylan, James and Annabelle, her four siblings Jamie, Kelly, Becky and Jacob, all of whom are so rich in this life for having known such a fantastically unique friend, no matter what!
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by a service celebrating Nikki's life at 7:30 pm, on Thursday, April 14, at Briarcliff Church, 800 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
