Michael Augustine, Jr., 79, passed away peacefully at home following complications from dementia on May 4, 2013. Mike was born August 21, 1933, to Mike and Anna Augustine in Hays, Kansas. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, Mike returned to Hays and started working for Southwestern Bell/ AT&T. He transferred to Kansas City where he met Mary Louise Tumberger. They were united in marriage on October 17, 1964, and had four children together. Mike retired in 1991 and enjoyed horse and dog races, going to the casino and watching the KU Jayhawks. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters as well as his granddaughter Alexandria Augustine. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary; his sons, Mark (Dawn) Topeka, Kansas, Michael (Kim) Eudora, Kansas; daughters, Melissa, Prairie Village, Kansas and Michelle, Shawnee, Kansas; grandchildren, Kayla and Josie Augustine, Topeka, Kansas and Ashton, Braden, Andrew and Aubrey Augustine, Eudora, Kansas; three brothers; and two sisters. The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers of Catholic Community Hospice especially Holly, Connie and Sister Judith for their support and care. Visitation will be begin at 9:30 a.m., May 8, 2013, followed by a Rosary at 10:15 a.m., and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. all at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th Street, Shawnee, Kansas.
