At the age of 82, Steve Wesley Brinkley of Erwin, North Carolina passed away. Steve was formerly from Sneads Ferry, NC. He was predeceased by his parents, Wade Charles Brinkley and Katherine Victoria Wilson Brinkley and his sister, Katherine Joan Brinkley. He is survived by his significant other, Brenda Bond of Erwin, his daughter, Helen Gebre (Pete) of Chester, SC and three grandchildren; his sister, Martha Berry (Tom) of Lexington, NC; his nephews, Michael and Kevan Martin of Lexington, NC; and his close friends, Ed and Shirley Richardson of Sneads Ferry, Charlie and Susie Hughes of Sneads Ferry.
Steve graduated from Lexington Senior High School in Lexington, NC in 1958. He attended Pfieffer University in Misenheimer, NC.
Steve was employed by the Davidson County School office as a bookkeeper and also at Onco Oil in Wilmington, NC as a salesman. Steve owned gun businesses in Lexington and Clemmons, NC and owned BBQ restaurants in Holly Ridge, NC and Clemmons, NC. He moved to Sneads Ferry many years ago and ran his commercial fishing business from his home there.
The family has been served by Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn, NC.
