PEORIA -- Ola Shortness, 100, of Rosewood Care Center in Peoria, formerly of 905 E. Willcox, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at the care center.

Born March 26, 1897, in Hannibal, Mo., to Harry J. and Louella Hosford Ahearn, she married Willis M. Shortness on Oct. 20, 1923, in Galesburg. He died on Dec. 1, 1986, in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Surviving are one son, Russell Jackson of Moline; one step-daughter, Margaret Simmons of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker.

She was a former member of the Peoria Women's Club. She was a 50-year member of the YWCA and a charter member of the YWCA Forum. She was a former member of the Peoria Poetry Club and the Peoria Toastmistress Club.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

There will be no services. Cremation will be accorded. Wilton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to her church's general endowment fund.
