Ila Jean Abbe Bratton, 91, of Altoona, formerly of Toledo, Iowa, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at UnityPoint/Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Visitation and Funeral Services at Christ United Methodist Church, 301 S Broadway, Toledo, Pastor Jill Mack officiating. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery in rural Toledo.

 Ila Jean was born on June 24, 1931, in Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Wayma (Alexander) Beck.

 She attended kindergarten thru 8th grade, at Howard #5 country school, and graduated from Toledo High School May 1950.

 On June 11, 1950, married Merle Abbe at the Toledo Methodist Church. After Merle died, she married Rolland Dale "Poody" Bratton on July 23, 2001.

 Ila Jean was a life long homemaker. She was devoted to her family. She loved family gatherings, cooking and baking for family, camping and visiting with friends and neighbors.

 Ila Jean was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo.

Surviving are her children, Gary (Donna) Abbe of Taylors, South Carolina, Joan (Rich) Wedmore of Piney Flats, Tennessee, Sandy Leonard of Cedar Rapids, David Abbe of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Shelly (Chuck) Vileta of Iowa City, Beth (Barry) Kiser of Easley, South Carolina, and Lisa (Steve) Stark of Altoona; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, LaVonne Cherveny of Toledo; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Merle Abbe and R. Dale "Poody" Bratton; her infant son, Mark Abbe; grandchild, Brad Barker; two brothers, Max and Tim Beck; and two sisters, Lorna McCord and Sherry Lathrop; and sister-in-law, Doris Beck.

 Memorials may be directed to Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo.
