Betty A. Swigart, 92, was delivered to Heaven on January 11, 2023. She was born August 28, 1930, in the Village of Wagner. She was the daughter of the late Gordon B. and Mary (Snook) Erb.

Her husband, Frederick L. Swigart, whom she married October 14, 1950, survives and resides near McClure. Also surviving are: her sons, Roger L. Swigart and wife, Virginia, of Lewistown, Dean A. Swigart and wife, Debora, of McClure, and daughter, Karen Sauder and husband, Lonnie, of Elizabethtown. Betty has five grandchildren living in Pa.; Drew Swigart and wife, Julia, of Lewisburg, Chad Swigart and wife, Lindsey, of Lewistown, Kamda Bracken and husband, Ryan, of Elizabethtown, Tucker Swigart and wife, Regan, of Loysville, and Dyland Sauder, of Marietta; and seven great-grandchildren.

Betty graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1948.

She was employed as a secretary in the Mifflin County Commissioners Office, was a member of the Courthouse Club, was secretary for Surplus Food and an associate with her husband in the operation of Swigart's Body Shop, farming and insurance businesses.

As an active member of Lawvers United Methodist Church, Betty served on committees and held various offices and at the time of her passing, was a member of the church council, Evangelism and family ministries. She was also a member of the St. George's Island Association in Maryland, and the McClure and Decatur Fire Companies.

She enjoyed working on church projects and socializing with family and friends.

A viewing will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at Lawvers United Methodist Church, Whiskey Road, McClure, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kathy Mercado officiating.

A graveside service and interment will take place at Samuel's Church Cemetery following the funeral service. A meal will be provided at Lawver's Church.
